Braves legend Smoltz joins the Dan Patrick show to talk about the 2017 World Series
Monday morning, FOX broadcaster and former Atlanta Braves superstar pitcher, John Smoltz joined the Dan Patrick show to talk about Sunday nights game as well as the series as a whole. Along with the series being fantastic, Smoltz has added to that by being spectacular in the booth.
Smoltz’s knowledge and ability to add to every play/pitch has made the baseball games a lot more enjoyable. He gives insight of why and what the pitcher was doing/trying to do. It’s just been spectacular!
Dan Patrick is one of the best interviewers I’ve ever heard. So when him and Smoltz have a conversation, it’s definitely something to listen too.
One of the first questions Patrick asked was about the 1991 World Series with the Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins. This was one of the best championship series the MLB and fans have ever watched. The seven-game series was amazing…if only the Braves would have won, it would have been so much better.
It’s been 26-years since this World Series, but it’s still one of the best ever. We’ve seen just about everything in this 2017 World Series and we’re only through game five. We could still have two more of these showdowns!
Here is Smoltz’s answer on the 1991 World Series compared to the 2017. He doesn’t really answer Patrick’s question
The Astros won game five on Sunday night 13-12 in the 10th inning. With so much offense, it kinda makes you wonder about things. So much so that people are questioning the baseballs.
Have you heard about this yet? Probably so, but it’s definitely something to keep on the radar.
Pitchers are claiming that the baseballs feel different in their hands and are saying they feel slippy.
Do I think the MLB juiced the baseballs? Right now, as not a true fan of either team, I’m not caring that much. But if I was a diehard fan of them, I would be questioning it…especially the Dodgers. Since a juiced baseball would give an advantage to the hitters and not the pitching staff.
If you’re thinking ahead just a little bit and this is the direction MLB is going, could hitters be a hotter commodity this offseason than pitchers?
I dunno though about juiced baseballs. I do know that I really like Smoltz’s response to this though. He told Patrick he believes what the pitchers are saying since they always have baseballs in their hands. They know when something is different.
I’ll tell you what though, these games have been exciting…juiced baseballs or not.
