SunTrust Park Never Looked So Good
The long haul of the Major League Baseball season can be tiring and wear on players. As the season winds down, the last thing most players want is to continually be on the road, especially after already playing so many games. The players just want to be home, sleep in their own bed and enjoy family time. Home games are even more important to the players too when they know they will not be playing in the postseason.
For the Atlanta Braves, having opened up SunTrust Park this year, Major League Baseball worked it out that although the beginning of their schedule saw a lot of road games and time away, the back half of the 2017 schedule was highly loaded with home games. Over the course of the final two months of the season – August and September – not counting the one game the Braves play in October, the Braves have thirty-three home games and only twenty-four games on the road. It really should be one less game on the road, as part of the September 25th doubleheader against the New York Mets, is a make up from the April 25th rain out. Granted August is almost over, but it is still a significant time at home over these two months.

Having more home games toward the end of the season, allowed the Braves to come up with unique promotional ideas for the fans.
Cool tie with College Football
By having home games late in the season, being able to have a promotional marketing opportunity that ties together baseball and football is something the Braves are taking advantage of. On September 4th, the Braves are going to host UGA Night – UGA being University of Georgia. Here, the Braves will honor Vince Dooley, former University of Georgia football coach, 85th birthday. Dooley will be the leader of The Chop during the game and certain ticket packages come with a Braves and UGA branded hat. How often are you able to come to a baseball game and experience football as well? Not often!
