Giancarlo Stanton, not surprisingly, had himself a game against Atlanta on Saturday night, but Atlanta’s offense more than made up for it.
The Atlanta Braves (51-58) clinched their latest series with the visiting Miami Marlins with their second win in the three game set by a score of 7-2.
Winning by five runs, it’s easy to pin the win on the offensive effort, but the clear workhorse in Atlanta’s game two win over Miami was Mike Foltynewicz (10-6) in a strong 6.1 inning effort.
Folty gave up only one run on four hits and struck out a career-high 11 batters in the game. His only mistake – if it can be called that – was a long home run on a chest-high pitch to Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton.

Stanton was Miami’s lone offensive hero in the game, going 2-for-4 with a run and both of his teams runs batted in.
Atlanta had plenty of offensive highlights in the Alumni Weekend matchup, giving Braves legends plenty to cheer for with seven runs on nine hits.
Freddie Freeman was at it again, 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and four of Atlanta’s RBI. That impressive line included a three-run homer in the seventh inning, his 20th of the season.
The Braves bullpen was solid in the game as well, giving up only one more run in 2.2 innings of work. Jason Motte owned the lone run in a combined relief effort that saw Sam Freeman‘s fourth hold, Luke Jackson working out of a tough situation and a fifth save from Arodys Vizcaino.
One item of note was that Atlanta’s latest rookie promotion Max Fried didn’t see action out of the bullpen Saturday, so his MLB debut eludes him through his first day with the big club.
