The moment Braves Country has been dreaming of… it appears that the long-awaited major league debut of a top prospect may be upon us.

According to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman, Atlanta Braves top prospect Ozzie Albies has been called up from triple-A Gwinnett and will be present for Tuesday night’s game versus the L.A. Dodgers.

Albies, long heralded as one of Atlanta’s top farm system gems, has had an impressive four seasons in the minor leagues. Since 2014 the Curacao native has .304/.365/.424 through 390 games from rookie ball to triple-A.

Still just 20-years-old, Albies has also been consistently impressive as a reliable defender in the middle infield.

Back in mid-June, Albies landed himself on the seven-day disabled list with an injury to his foot, but hasn’t shown any noticeable lingering issue since his return to the Gwinnett roster.

At triple-A this season, Albies has .285/.330/.440 through 97 games, racking up 117 hits in 411 trips to the plate.

Last season, Albies saw action at both double-A Mississippi and triple-A Gwinnett where he combined for .292/.358/.420 averages, and won the Southern League batting title.

Albies could possible make his big league debut alongside fellow Gwinnett Braves prospect Lucas Sim, who is schedule to start for Atlanta Tuesday night at home.

Corresponding roster moves are not yet known – guessing perhaps a DL stint for Brandon Phillips to fully heal up for a trade? Micah Johnson could be sent down as well.

UPDATE:  (Ed. note – okay, my guess was half right)
