Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves defeated the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night in fashionable style!  The walk-off last night was their 6th walk-off win of the 2017 season…which is the league lead and it’s the Braves third walk-off in five days!

Yep, these hits are amazing and fun to watch, but for most of us they are ending late (into the next morning) and we’re not able to see the walk-off until the AM.  How about the Braves find a way to close out games in the normal nine innings, eh?  Well, in any case, we’ll take a victory when we can get one.

Braves starting pitcher Sean Newcomb pitched a terrific game…going six strong innings, allowing three hits, one run, one walk and had three strikeouts.  This was just his third MLB start to the 24-year-old’s young career.

Arodys Vizcaino and Jim Johnson both gave up a run in consecutive innings to allow the Giants to climb back into the game and eventually get extra innings going.  It was Johnson’s fifth blown save in 18 attempts.

Braves WIN 5-3

Kemp’s 11th-ining homer gives Braves another walk-off win

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Braves left fielder, Matt Kemp, hit a walk-off opposite field homer last night in the 11th inning.  Johan Camargo led off the inning with a pop-out.  Nick Markakis then took a five-pitch walk.  Next batter, Kemp…and by now we all know what he did!

Kemp’s oppo home run was his 12th of the season and the two-run shot was his 34th and 35th RBI of the 2017 year.

"The Braves blew a 3-1 lead in the late innings Wednesday, perhaps just so they could dump another cooloer of Powerade on someone while celebrating another walk-off win."
"Matt Kemp got the blue-liquid shower this time after hitting a two-run homer with one out in the 11th inning to give the Braves a 5-3 win against the San Francisco Giants, their third walk-off win in the past five days at SunTrust Park."
"“Like I keep saying, they never quit,” said manager Brian Snitker, whose Braves lead the National League with six walk-off wins and lead the majors with 12 wins in their final at-bat. “I mean, they’re in this thing, they just grind through at-bats, games, picking each other up. They just keep coming at you. Never down, never out. It’s kind of fun to watch.”"

Newest group of D-Braves get first taste of Danville

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves have signed 24 new players from the 2017 MLB Draft and most of these guys will be assigned to the Danville Braves.  Today is the first game of the season for the Danville team as they play tonight at 7:00pm.  2016 round 8 pitcher Odalvi Javier is on the mound for Danville.

It’s an exciting time to pay attention to the minors for the Braves since they are extremely stacked and have many key pieces to the future of the organization down at this level.

An update since this was posted…LHP Jaret Hellinger was transferred to Danville from Rome and RHP Alan Rangel moves to Rome.

Big names on this roster are…Kyle Muller, Isranel Wilson, Derian Cruz, Dilmer Mejia, William Contreras, and Drew Lugbauer.  For those of you looking for Kevin Maitan, the 17-year-old will start the year in the GCL.

"Players for the Atlanta Braves’ rookie league squad practiced and signed autographs during the annual Fan Fest to prepare for the start of Appalachian League play Thursday. While the Braves organization could still make a few last-minute tinkers to the roster, the group under the lights at American Legion Post 325 Field at Dan Daniel Park was the team manager Nestor Perez will direct to begin the season in Elizabethton, Tennessee, on Opening Night. While many players know each other from playing in the Braves organization, Tuesday’s practice was the first time the Braves’ 2017 draftees — 13 of 36 players on the most recent roster — took the field as professional baseball players."
