The Atlanta Braves Are Using New Hydro-Dipped Helmets With Carbon Fiber Design For Friday’s Game.
These look so cool! After a long painful week of Atlanta Braves baseball, this is something to look forward to for Friday’s home opener.

Earlier in the season, it was shown that the Braves, along with other teams, were using 3D logos on their helmets. They’ve decided to 1-up the competition with graphic printed helmets, something that has been used by college football teams such as the Oregon Ducks.
The designing process used for these helmets will be the first of its kind for MLB team helmets. Something similar that other teams were doing was switching over to matte-finish.

The Braves are set to debut these helmets, designed by Rawling Sports, during the opening series against the San Diego Padres, the first series at SunTrust Park.
The base design is based on their classic helmets with the navy blue/blue dome with red lid. The cool design print is a carbon fiber look and also features a SunTrust Park patch commemorating the inaugural season on the back of the helmet.

According to ESPN, Braves General Manager John Coppolella said that this is a good way of keeping to the organization’s roots but also stay modern and “cool.”
"“We want to be cognizant of our history and what it stands for, but you’ve got to balance that with moving forward. You can still innovate and do new things while staying true to your roots, and this helmet is a good example of that.”"

ESPN also quoted the Braves equipment manager, Ben Acree, who was a part of the designing process.
"“We played around with a few different ideas, but we found that the carbon fiber look works well for us.The pattern fits on our navy helmet and doesn’t really mess with the design too much. It’s a subtle pattern, not too crazy. That’s important because we wanted to walk a fine line between our very strong team tradition and being innovative.”"
Just like how many of the baseball teams are using 3D logo helmets, if this is proven to be positive to fans and MLB officials, more teams will likely join the bandwagon on hydro-dipped helmets.
For now, the Atlanta braves have the coolest batting helmets in baseball. Now if we can get caps with this printed design, it would be great.
