Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves were swept by the Washington Nationals in a series that wrapped up on Wednesday evening.  Atlanta played really well against the top team in the NL East.  If the pitching staff could get a couple big outs, we may be saying the opposite team sweeping.  Dansby Swanson hit two homers in this series including one that went over the fence and the other an in-the-park homer.  Ender Inciarte and Freddie Freeman both continued their hitting streaks as we head to the off day on Thursday.  Did you stay up watching this game?  Maybe you had a late fantasy football draft or just kept watching in hopes the Braves would pull this one off.  In any case, we stayed up…check out our full recap here.

G-Braves Might Change Name
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Kind of a shocker here, but I guess I’m not located close enough to see this in person.  The Gwinnett Braves are struggling to get the attendance their looking for.  Interesting for a team that made the playoffs this season and many Braves that either made their way up to Atlanta or on rehab stints were playing with Gwinnett.  The G-Braves did beat Columbus in game one of the playoffs last night, 5-4.  On Thursday, they are back on the field starting at 6:35pm ET.
"With attendance struggles continuing, the Gwinnett Braves (Class AAA; International League) are not ruling out the possibility of a name change. It was noted here recently that the G-Braves are struggling to attract fans to Coolray Field. While the franchise’s shift from Richmond–which took place before the 2009 season–has eased player development operations for the Atlanta Braves, attendance for the G-Braves has not taken off. For the 2016 season, the team finished last in the 14-team International League in average and total attendance.General manager North Johnson and his front office continue to try to strengthen the team’s numbers. One solution, according to Johnson, might wind up being a name change, something that was recently reported in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution."
Tim Tebow signs with New York Mets
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: What looked like a shoo-in, the Braves missed an opportunity to sign former quarterback Tim Tebow.  The 29-year-old signed with the New York Mets on Thursday morning as announced by the Mets Twitter page.  Many believed Tebow would sign with the Braves given the location of their minor league affiliates in the southeast — where Tebow is a huge fan favorite.  Tebow will most likely go to the Arizona Fall League and then in 2017 be sent to the Mets Double-A affiliate in Binghamton.  Shucks, I was hoping he would sign with Atlanta.  It will be interesting to see the details of 1. the deal and 2. why he picked the Mets over the Braves (if he had the choice).

"The New York Mets signed former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow to a minor league contract on Thursday, the team announced in a press release. The 29-year-old Tebow, who held a workout for scouts and evaluators from 28 major league organizations last month, will play in the Instructional League, and could also be sent to the Arizona Fall League, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted."

"Though he hasn’t played competitive baseball since high school, Tebow impressed some scouts with his raw power and bat speed during the August workout. He played the outfield during the showcase. FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal said there were about eight teams in the mix for Tebow. Atlanta Braves General Manager John Coppolella this week publicly expressed an interest in signing Tebow."
