Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz shut down one of the best teams in baseball…at their home park!  Folty went 7.2 innings, giving up five hits, one run, one walk and had six strikeouts — the only run came off a solo oppo-homer by Brandon Crawford in the 2nd inning.  It was a 98mph fastball down the pipe on a 0-1 pitch that Folty was just trying to throw by him.  Crawford put a good swing on it and it carried out of the park.  The fence is 339 down the left field line, the ball probably went 341.  Matt Kemp had the big blast for the Braves in the 4th inning to put the Braves up.  Check out our full recap here. Folks, don’t look now, but we’re getting close to 50 wins on the 2016 season!  We now sit at 48-82!

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: At first thought, it seems a little strange that the Braves wouldn’t call up one of their top prospects, Ozzie Albies in September.  When you think about it though, he’s still only 19-years-old (turns 20 on January 7th) and we still have Jace Peterson playing second base.  What I think will happen is that Albies stays with the Mississippi Braves until their season is complete, including playoffs.  MBraves are currently in first place in their division and could make a run in the playoffs.  The championship for Double-A ends on September 18th so if the MBraves make it that far, that’s still two weeks left in the MLB season.  Call Albies up when the MBraves are eliminated.

"The Braves are unsure if they’ll promote high-end infield prospect Ozzie Albieswhen rosters expand next month, writes Mark Bowman of MLB.com.Atlanta already called up shortstop Dansby Swanson, who figures to be half of a long-term double-play tandem with Albies, but he’s three years older than Albies, notes Bowman.The 19-year-old Albies, whom Baseball America, MLB.com and ESPN’s Keith Law all regard as a top 20 prospect, hit an excellent .322/.394/.446 in 325 Double-A plate appearances this year, but he hasn’t been as effective at the Triple-A level (.248/.307/.351 in 247 PAs). Albies has combined for 27 stolen bases, though, and has posted similar strikeout and walk rates at each level."

From pharmaceutical rep to Royals reliever, Peter Moylan is an ageless wonder

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Just a tremendous story here about former Braves relief pitcher Peter Moylan.  Moylan was with the Braves from 2006 to 2012 and then again last season.  After battling injuries many times in his career — back problems, elbow issues, two Tommy John surgeries — he’s found his groove again in Kansas City.  The Royals have used him 32 times this season as he holds a 3.73 ERA and is a huge assist in their bullpen.  A fan favorite every team he goes to, we surely miss the Australian wonder in Braves country!

"Moylan has become a critical member of the Royals’ bullpen, a side-arming specialist who has posted a 3.73 ERA, been a nuisance on right-handed hitters and helped fill the void left by injuries to Luke Hochevar and Wade Davis.“He’s deceptive,” Royals pitching coach Dave Eiland says.Inside the clubhouse, he is the personification of resiliency, a veteran who has overcome two Tommy John surgeries and a litany of back problems. On some days, his Australian accent fills the room, offering a chorus of self-deprecating jokes and funny stories. On others, he serves as mentor to the club’s young pitchers."
