All right, let’s hear the debate start!  Who is the best Atlanta Braves player of all-time?

With Andruw Jones (and John Schuerholz) being inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame on Friday, we give you the debate that will stir all kinds of opinions.

The Braves have a rich history as we started as the Boston Red Stockings in the 1870’s and is the only of today’s 30 MLB teams to have played in every season professional baseball has been in existence.

So we’ve seen all sorts of great players — from Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, Greg Maddux to Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones and Freddie Freeman…even George Herman “Babe” Ruth played with the Braves in 1935.  The list of players that have worn a Braves jersey is ridiculous.

The Braves have retired 11 numbers in their history – #3, 6, 10, 21, 29, 31, 35, 41, 44, 47, and Jackie Robinson‘s #42.

Different generations may think one player was better than another and I think I’m going to go that route.  Hank Aaron has the stats — In his 23-year Major League career, he holds many records…most Runs Batted In, 2,297; most Extra-Base Hits, 1,477; most Total Bases, 6,856; and the one most everyone knows, Most Home Runs, 755.

It’s very difficult to say Hammering Hank Aaron is not the greatest Brave of all-time, but I’m going to throw a wrinkle in this.

In my lifetime, Chipper Jones gets my vote for the greatest Brave of all-time.  Jones not only had the stats, but he was also carried the Braves uniform across his chest for almost two decades.  He did so much for this organization on and off the field.  He helped the Generation Y and the Millennials continue to make baseball the Great American Game.
