Braves ride their horse, bullpen long enough to scrape together a run, beat Colorado in series finale 1-0.

Our full game recap can be seen here, but I wanted to look at something else this morning:  Strange things in the pitching trade market.

  • Rich Hill, whom teams are looking at for a ‘rental’ pickup, has been pitching extraordinarily well… when he’s on the mound.  Yesterday?  Blister popped after 5 pitches.  Done… possibly for another week, which gives scouts maybe 1 more start before he gets traded.
  • Drew Pomeranz… you know, the guy having a career year that the Red Sox just paid a Top 15 prospect for?  Hasn’t pitched since 7/7 (yes: before the All-Star break) and isn’t scheduled to go for the BoSox until Wednesday.  That’s a 2 week vacation.  So why did they need him if they aren’t using him?
  • Chris Archer?  Not available, according to the Rays.  They are not inclined to sell low on him.
  • Meanwhile, Julio Teheran kept another potent offense at bay on Sunday, scattering 3 hits and walking just 1 while putting up another goose egg… but he’s apparently not worth a Top 10 prospect.  Okay.  Good luck with that, Boston, Texas, and Houston.

Here’s your happy Sunday box score:
