A Newsworthy Day From Atlanta, Are You Caught Up?
What seemed to start as just a normal Thursday, the Braves seemed to be in the news a lot. From minors, to majors, to draft picks, to legends, let’s go through everything from today.
Let’s start with the legend Hank Aaron. He will be at Turner Field tomorrow night to tear down the #44 on the left field wall. Go check out a game for cheap and see the great Hammerin’ Hank!

—The Braves selected Corbin Clouse in the 27th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Davenport University. Last year he went 5-0 with a team-best 1.62 ERA, had 75 strikeouts and 25 walks over his 50 innings pitched. He’s already reporting to the Danville Braves.
—Gordon Beckham is on his way back to Atlanta! He’s been sidelined because of a lingering hamstring injury, but he’s expected to begin a rehab assignment within the next few days. He could be back before the start of July.
–Mike Foltynewicz is also on his way back to Atlanta! He will make a rehab start with the Gwinnett Braves this weekend. He’ll try to go five innings on Saturday Braves manager Brian Snitker said before Thursday night’s game. I’m guessing he’ll probably get two starts at Gwinnett prior to the All-Star break and if he pitches well, he’ll be back in the Braves rotation then.

Mallex Smith: “it’ll heal. The rest of my body is fine. I’m in great spirits right now. No sad train for me at all”

Mallex: “I’m still happy to be here, happy to be around. There’s way worse places I could be so I’m not sad at all” #Braves
