Hitter of the week – Jake Schrader may still be hovering near .200 on the season, but over the last week, he was a terror for Mississippi, hitting .471/.526/.706 with 2 runs, a double, a home run, 3 RBI, and 1/2 BB/K. Honorable mention: Lucas Herbert has been smoking the ball all season, but he’s been seemingly always hitting the ball right at guys. This week, those balls fell, and he went .333/.350/.556 with 3 runs, a double, a home run, 3 RBI, and 1/2 BB/K.
Pitcher of the week – He got a promotion this week due to his great performance in the bullpen, and he’s been stellar especially this week, so I felt it appropriate to mention him. Steve Janas made 3 appearances this week, throwing 5 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits without a walk, striking out 6. Honorable mention: Sean Newcomb has been picking up his pace, and I wanted to honor that as he had one of the three best game scores of the week with a 6 inning, 2 hit, one run, 3 walk, 7 strikeout performance for Mississippi.
