No Official Word from the Braves, But Promotion News Being Broken By Marksberry Himself
By itself, this might be a fairly innocent tweet, but…
"Driving to ATL"
As AA Mississippi is currently in the midst of a homestand at Pearl, there’s only one reason for one of their bullpen staff to be driving toward Atlanta this morning (aside from personal reasons, but he’s a Cincinnati native): it seems that southpaw Matt Marksberry is being promoted back to the major league club.
After being removed early from the major league camp this Spring to work on his craft, it was a bit of a surprise to see Marksberry debut in Mississippi for the start of the season, particularly given the need for left-handed relievers in the Braves’ bullpen. Nonetheless, he has certainly made the most of his time. In 6 appearances, he’s logged 8.2 innings, giving up just 1 run, walking 2, and K’ing 7 for a 0.58 WHIP and .115 average-against.
But the First Law of Baseball Rosters requires that every move have an equal and opposite move. That information is given to us via David O’Brien:

Congratulations, and welcome back to the bigs, Matt!
