AAA Gwinnett Braves (10-4)
Monday
Durham took a 4-3 lead in the 6th inning, and the Braves simply couldn’t push a run across until the bottom of the 9th, and by then it wasn’t enough as they lost 5-4. Mike Foltynewicz went 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 5 K. Chase d’Arnaud had a triple, double, and single along with a stolen base. Reid Brignac had three singles and a stolen base. Ryan Lavarnway had a single and a double.
Tuesday
Gwinnett was the focus of all of baseball for about a half hour on Tuesday night as Aaron Blair got through 7 innings without allowing hit before the reliever allowed a double to the corner to break up the bid. The final score ended up being 7-2. Blair’s sparkling line was 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K. Rio Ruiz continued his torrid hitting, going 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Ronnier Mustelier had three singles. Emilio Bonifacio had two singles and a walk. Ryan Lavarnway had a single and a double.
Wednesday
Gwinnett got another great start from Tyrell Jenkins on Wednesday. Problem was that the defense forgot that they’re supposed to also assist with a start by their pitcher. Durham took the game 5-3, and Jenkins was charged with all 5 runs, only 2 earned, though I debate whether even those two should have been earned. Jenkins overall line was 6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. He also used his amazing pick off move to nab two base runners as his defense wasn’t able to help him get out of jams, so he had to do it on his own. Rio Ruiz had the big day offensively, collecting a single, double, and a walk. Reid Brignac also had a single and a double. Ronnier Mustelier had a double. Emilio Bonifacio and Chase d’Arnaud each had a steal.

Monday
The M-Braves scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take a 5-1 lead and held on to win 5-3. Chris Ellis got the start, going 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K. Levi Hyams had two doubles and 3 RBI. Willians Astudillo had a single and a double. Ozzie Albies had a double and a walk. Matt Lipka had a double.
Tuesday
Mississippi leaped on Chattanooga starter David Hurlbut and held on for a 7-4 win. Sean Newcomb struggled in the 5th with his control, allowing the only two runs of his day as he went 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 7 K. Ozzie Albies had three singles. Johan Camargo had a single, double, and a walk. Levi Hyams had a single and a home run. Williams Astudillo had two singles. Dustin Peterson clubbed his second home run.
Wednesday
Rob Whalen was rolling through 3 innings, but he seemed to lose his touch in the 4th, and his control just wasn’t there. The bullpen didn’t help him either, and one of those rules that I’m not a fan of in baseball – that an inherited runner allowed in by a wild pitch is scored as an earned run to the previous pitcher – led to two more runs on his line for the night. Overall, Whalen went 4 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 5 BB, 6 K as Mississippi lost 6-2. Ozzie Albies had a single and a walk and stole his second base, though he also had his third error in the field. Matt Lipka had a double.

Monday
Carolina kept clawing back at the lead all day, but Salem wouldn’t let them, taking the game 6-4. Ryan Lawlor‘s control forgot to show up as he went 3 2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 6 BB, and 3 K. Dansby Swanson had three hits, including a double along with a steal. Braxton Davidson had a single and a double. Keith Curcio had two singles. Jordan Edgerton had a double.
Tuesday
Carolina scored a run in the bottom of the 9th to send the game into extras, but Salem was able to score in the 12th inning to win 6-5. Omar Obregon had a huge night, going 4-5 with a double and triple. Dansby Swanson had a double and two walks. Joseph Odom had two hits, including his first home run of the season. Joey Meneses had a double and a single.
Wednesday
Max Povse made one mistake on the night, and otherwise he got BABIP’d to death as Salem seemed to find holes on every bit of connection they made on the night in a 5-1 loss. Povse’s line was 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 2 K. His big mistake came when he hung a slider that was driven for a double, scoring two runs on him. The other run scored on 5 ground balls in an inning. 2 found their way through for hits, and the others advanced the runner just perfectly to end up getting the run across. Stephen Gaylor had two singles and a stolen base. Joey Meneses had a single and a walk. Jordan Edgerton added a double.

Matt Tellor had the big offensive night with a home run and a double. Luke Dykstra had a double and a single. Ray-Patrick Didder had a single and a walk along with a steal. Justin Ellison had a double and a steal.
Tuesday
Rome scored a run each in the 6th and 7th to take a 2-1 lead, but they couldn’t hold the lead, losing 3-2 in walk-off fashion to Augusta. Augusta pitching turned the Rome lineup into an air conditioning unit with all the whiffing done on Wednesday. The Braves lineup struck out 15 times to GreenJackets pitching.
