Chopcast: Breaking down Braves’ early options for 2016 MLB Draft
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The debate will go on until June…who will the Atlanta Braves draft with the number three pick? Braves General Manager John Coppolella has hinted towards wanting to take a bat in this slot and I think it’s the perfect decision. The player who I’m looking at early is the Florida Gators’ outfielder Buddy Reed. Size, speed, power…looks to be a great prospect. Down below in this article you’ll see the Chipper Jones Q&A, in this he talks about getting out and scouting some college players…his ties to FL, I can see him liking this kid.
"Baseball America writer Hudson Belinsky joins the show to discuss the elite draft prospects entering the 2016 high-school and college baseball seasons and which direction the Braves could go with the No. 3 overall pick this summer. Plus, Zach Dillard and Cory McCartney talk surprising roster moves and Jace Peterson’s versatility."
Chipper Q&A: Braves icon likes team’s changes on and off field
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Atlanta Journal Constitution sat down with Chipper Jones Wednesday at the Wild World of Sport facility. They spoke about everything from Chipper’s playing days, to top prospect Dansby Swanson, to what his plans are for the future. Mr. Jones is serving as the Braves special assistant to baseball operations and will spend about two weeks with the team.
"Q. Do you hope to use this special assistant’s position as a stepping stone to some sort of second career with the organization?A. I don’t know what I want to do. I don’t know what this is all going to lead to. This is basically me dipping my toe in the water to see how I like it. I know that as of right now I don’t want to put the uniform back on day-in and day-out. But if an opportunity arises for me to climb the ladder maybe not having to put the uniform on day-in and day-out, that would be ideal as I sit here right now. Things could change, but I lived out of a suitcase for 23 years. I like my life the way it is right now, so this is a good fit for me right now.”"
