Way back in 2015 – December 2, 2015 to be exact – news from Ken Rosenthal broke that the Atlanta Braves signed free agent Gordon Beckham.  On December 4, it became official for a one year deal worth $1.25 million.

The Georgia native – was born in Atlanta, Georgia, went to high school in Atlanta and went to the University of Georgia – is returning home after being drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2008 with the 8th pick in the draft.  He made his debut with the White Sox on June 4, 2009 and spent the next seven years in Chicago.  In 2014 he was traded to the LA Angles, but the White Sox signed him in the offseason to come back.

The 29-year-old will head into the 2016 Spring Training competing for a job.  Whether that be at second base or third base or a utility infielder, Beckham will have the chance to play a part for the Braves this season.

Beckham is known for his defensive skills and his rocket line drives…but also his inconsistent hitting.  At times he shows signs of a great hitter, but other times he struggles mightily.

Over the holiday’s, Beckham’s wife Brittany posted a few videos on Instagram of Gordon having a little fun singing karaoke.

Gordon definitely shows his confidence in these videos…let’s hope his comeback to Atlanta will do the same on the field.

Could a return home help Beckham strive like he’s always been excepted to?  An insert from Steven Kerstein of the Bleacher Report…

"His success is contingent on his attitude and a stable state of mind.  He’s the type of player who rallies around fan support.  He just needs the confidence."

Let’s hope he can find a boost of confidence coming back home, but hopefully it’s not too much for him with his family and friends always being around.  We will soon find out, but it would be nice if he can find a groove in 2016 for himself and for the Braves.
