Braves Julio Teheran Takes Strides In Offseason
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher, Julio Teheran, is looking to get back on track from his 2014 All-Star performance year. Â In 2015, along with the entire team, Teheran struggled. Â Can he turn it around in 2016?
Teheran arrived on the MLB scene on May 7, 2011.  He was a highly projected prospect in the Braves organization so everyone was excited when they brought him up.  With an up-and-down seasons in both 2011 and 2012 with the Braves and Gwinnett, folks started to question Teheran’s future.
2013 came and those questions of doubt went away. Â He greatly improved in 2013 and in 2014 he made the NL All-Star team. Â His 2014 season was very similar to the season Shelby Miller had in 2015. Â Extremely low ERA, but no run support.
As 2015 rolled around, we expect Teheran to take the necessary strides to become the Braves Ace they needed. Â Instead he took a back seat to Miller. Â Could that have effected his confidence? Â Possibly.
Now as we head into the 2016 season, Teheran is the guy for the Braves.  Though he’ll only be 25-years-old when the season starts, he’ll be the leader and the veteran on the staff (veteran unless Bud Norris or another veteran is signed).
Teheran has gotten the ball for the Braves on Opening Day the past two seasons. Â He will most likely get the ball again in 2016 making it three consecutive years.
Questions popped up in recent months about the Braves trading Teheran, but I don’t think they should or will.  The Braves should stick with this guy as he’s still young, learning and very talented.
As he plans for this task and the 2016 season, Teheran has posted a couple videos of him working out and getting ready for the season on his Instagram page.
