Okay, here’s the first compromise game. Of all the West Coast teams, the Giants were the one that I could not get to fit in any way. So the best thing to do was find a more-or-less convenient spot to fly your group out there for a single game… then turn around and fly right back.

- DISTANCE: 14 miles from Wrigley + 10 miles more for your Schaumburg hotel + 20.5 miles to AT&T park (44.5 miles)
- TIME: Allow 3 hours for the airport delays
- COST OF GAS: (12.2 gallons). $21.42
- FLIGHT INFO: At this moment in time, there is a Spirit Air flight leaving O’Hare at 1:35pm CDT (flight 209). 4 hours, 32 minutes, non-stop from ORD to OAK. Arrives 4:07pm PDT.
- FLIGHT COST: $266.20 per person. Next best option in this same time frame is United, for $356.
- TICKETING FEES: add roughly $15 per ticket
- RENTAL CAR: figure $65 after gas from an off-branded rental agency
- RETURN FLIGHT: Flight 872, departing 9:00am and arriving back at O’Hare at 3:05pm (non-stop).
- AIRPORT PARKING: You can get this done for $7 a day just offsite of the airport… so figure $12 for the 30-32 hours your car will be there.
- NOTE: Spirit Air charges a minimum of $31 per carry-on bag. But it’s still cheaper, so since it’s one night, combine efforts and carry on maybe only 2 bags between all members of your party.
- TOLLS: In Chicago, plan on $6.50 (leaving Wrigley). In Oakland: Bay Bridge (Westbound only), $6.00
- GAME TICKETS: $18 minimum
- STADIUM PARKING: ParkingPanda.com offers options starting at $6… so figure $10.
AFTER THE GAME. Head back to Oakland… and you may have to search a bit for a cheap place to stay. You’ll fly back to Chicago first thing in the morning.
