Former pitcher Tommy Hanson dies at age 29
Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Very sad news from the Atlanta Braves camp came out late Monday evening when reports informed us that former number one Braves prospect Tommy Hanson was in a coma.  Later that night, he passed away from organ failure.  In Hanson’s rookie season in 2009, he posted a 2.89 ERA with the Braves over 21 starts.  He looked like the pitcher all scouts claimed he was going to be.  Unfortunately, he digressed on the mound and bounced around four other teams in the MLB.  A promising pitcher, great guy and a young human, taken too early.
A group of Hanson’s former teammates was nearby when he died at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, a Braves representative told MLB.com.
Hanson had been in a coma, according to multiple reports.
A source told WSB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Atlanta, that Hanson had trouble breathing early Sunday morning and was taken to a hospital. He suffered catastrophic organ failure, multiple sources told the TV station.

My heart hurts so bad for Tommy's family. He adored his beautiful wife and family. He had the most infectious smile and the biggest hugs...
