Newly crowned General Manager John Coppolella has not wasted any time in continuing to implement the new vision for the Atlanta Braves as several announcements were made today that are evidently intended to bolster the scouting department:

The New hires:

  • Ted Simmons (Major League Scout)
  • Matt Kinzer (Major League Scout)
  • Leon Wurth (Major League Scout)
  • Kiley McDaniel (Assistant Director of Baseball Operations)

The Promotions:

  • A.J. Scola (from Assistant for Player Development to Manager of Minor League Operations)
  • Danielle Monday (from Baseball Operations Trainee to Assistant for Baseball Operations)
  • Chris Lionetti (from Baseball Operations Trainee to Assistant for Scouting)

It is not clear whether anyone in the Front Office has been replaced, as none of these titles have an exact analog for anyone that was already on staff – these appears to be new positions in all regards.

Those promoted from the trainee positions are generally new to the industry, but have been with the Braves for 1-3 years.  The new hires, however, bring a wealth of interesting experience to the scouting department.
