So we had this romantic notion a couple of days ago (well, as romantic as it can get) that on the last game of the Giants’ series, San Francisco and the Atlanta Braves would execute a trade that would lead to this ceremonial walk Tim Hudson would make from one dugout to the other. It would be a means to ‘bring him back home’ to finish his career.
Unfortunately – aside from the fact that you can’t do an August waiver trade involving somebody on the disabled list – the Braves couldn’t hardly bring anybody else home either last night, falling 6-1 in the finale of that three game set.

It wasn’t entirely the fault of Williams Perez as he somehow managed to scatter the damage of 10 hits and 2 walks wide enough that he gave up just 3 runs through six innings. He probably should not have started the 7th, but that opened up the vault for the Giants to tag him for 3 more runs.
The defense of Atlanta didn’t help a lot either, with an unearned run to start the festivities, which just made life a little harder.
In the meantime, though, the offense made Madison Bumgarner look better than he really was: he scattered his own 7 hits, but uncharacteristically got enough Braves to whiff (11 strikeouts) so that rally attempts were easily snuffed. Nick Markakis got 2 hits, including a double, but that was pretty much the end… 6-1 your final.
