This is a Tomahawk Take EXCLUSIVE.
It’s been a busy week for Atlanta Braves winner/representative of the Esurance MLB All-Star Fanfare Sweepstakes Christie Lysdale.
We pick up on Day 3 of her adventures in Cincinnati.
(These are her words, with minor edits from UnBiased Brave). If you missed any of the previous post, please feel free to catchup and follow along as she recaps her days in pictures with Day 1 | Day 2 Pt 1 Pt 2 & Pt 3
We arrived at the ballpark fairly early. We got to attend batting practice prior to the Derby.
Some of those guys were hitting some bombs almost reaching the river. All of the fanfare folk sat in one section. Our section was next to the MLB Network section. They had GREAT seats and a nice view of the action.
We got a chance to see John Smoltz, Al Leiter, Pedro Martinez and MLB studio host Greg Amsinger sitting in their section. I am sure I saw a few other baseball celebrities but I wasn’t quick on the draw with the camera to get them on film.
After the Derby was over, there was a pretty spectacular fireworks and laser light show.
The best two things about the Derby:
- Todd Frazier winning it in his home city. That crowd did NOT turn the volume because they were loud in EVERY round when he stepped up to the plate.
- Ken Griffey Jr. and his dad, Ken Griffey Sr. I sure do love that Junior Griffey and was beyond excited to see him there.
In all, we spent 6 hours at the ball field on derby day.
Also, all of the mascots were there just milling about throughout the day so I was able to get my picture with our very own #1 guy Homer.
This year’s Home Run Derby was really exciting and fun to watch.
Attached are the images from the activities of the day…
