2016 Atlanta Braves Bullpen Casualties

What part of the 2015 ‘pen will be taking their employment elsewhere?

Jim Johnson and David Aardsma– Both can thank the Braves and pitching coach Roger McDowell for reviving their careers and likely making them a few extra million over the course of the next few seasons.  However, with only 1-year contracts in-tow, the vets will likely be moving on.

Luis Avilan– Being a fringe reliever and becoming arb-eligible in 2016 might be the end of the line with Avilan.  His ’12 and ’13 years were brilliant, but were heavily aided by an unsustainable BABIP against at .232.  He’s been more the pitcher that he really is this year and last, an upper 3/lower 4 ERA reliever.  Since he’s a LHP and breathing, I’m sure there’s a team out there that will take him off our hands.

Jake Brigham- A great story, but likely no more than just that. I’m glad he made it to the show, but it’ll likely be time for the Braves to move on next year or even earlier.
