You’ve heard the rumors plenty, we’ve covered the quotes of the Braves front office, everyone in the media has at least mentioned it, but we’re going to continue writing about it until something happens…the Atlanta Braves will most likely trade outfielder Justin Upton.
Braves new President of Baseball Operations, John Hart, is looking for something substantial in return for Upton but has yet to get the “golden” phone call.
Many teams have had discussions with the Braves front office representatives but the few that continue to come up in the rumors are the the San Diego Padres, Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners.
Hart has already told the media that he and the Braves would be alright with going into the 2015 season with Justin Upton still in their outfield. Is he playing his cards right and not showing his hand to other organizations?
Though any team would be silly not to want Upton in their lineup, I still think he will be traded prior to the season. Tom Verducci and Joel Sherman of the MLB Network have the same thoughts. Verducci says in the clip below that he does not see Upton in the Braves organization come the 2015 Spring Training. Sherman goes further and says 0% he is with the Braves come Spring Training.
Just because the 2014 MLB Winter Meetings have completed, doesn’t mean trades aren’t gong to happen. If you recall a few years ago, it was mid-January when the Braves traded Martin Prado for Justin Upton.
Hart hasn’t said this to the media or anyone that we know of but I’m in the boat that we have to be patient. This trade will most likely happen but we must wait it out…it will probably be in the best interest of the team if we want also since Hart is waiting for the best trade scenario.
