Cubbies Crib
For all the bluster, I think I’ve actually seen more action at a Baptist church social… thus far, at least.
Monday produced the following:
- one trade (Brandon Moss to Cleveland)
- one signing (but we already knew that Yasmany Tomas was going to Arizona)
- one fake signing (the Braves are probably getting Dian Toscano, but I believe we’re sitting on the signing ceremony until after the Rule 5 Draft for the purposes of holding a roster slot open)
- There were a bunch of DFAs, outrights, and waiver claims, but nothing impacting the Braves
Tuesday has started with a bit of a bang, especially if you’re a White Sox fan:
- Signed closer David Robertson to a 4 year, $46 million deal (just before 1 am EST)
- Traded for (we believe it’s close enough to being official) Jeff Samardzija.
- Meanwhile, roughly one out of every three rumors has the Braves involved. That could actually increase once Lester signs.
And still, nobody has a clue what the Oakland A’s are doing.
So with that: we begin Tuesday at the Winter Meetings – a day in which we hope to finally learn who Jon Lester selects as his next team.
Feel free to jump in with comments and thoughts along the way!
