The Atlanta Braves Spooky Morning Chop

Pumpkin Carving Contest Finalists

A couple of days ago, this tweet came across my timeline from the official Atlanta Braves account:

One of the contest finalists is pictured above… you can see the rest at this WSB-TV link.  Not sure if this one came in too late to be a “finalist”, but it’s impressive, for sure:

Chipper Approves

Speaking of the somewhat-retired Chipper Jones:  in between hunting and snake pictures on his timeline, we noted this yesterday as well:

Nice to see a positive weigh-in on new hitting coach Kevin Seitzer from somebody who obviously has a clue or two about hitting.

  • Yesterday the Peoria Javelinas (7-12-2) went down to defeat 4-1 to the Glendale Desert Dogs.  The only position player belonging to the Braves that played was

    Daniel Castro

, who hit for his requisite 1-for-4 (.233), that hit being a double.  He then scored the lone Javelinas run.

Both Ryne Harper and Nate Hyatt pitched in the game:  Harper for 2 innings and Hyatt for 1.  They combined for 4 strikeouts, no walks, and no hits.  Harper has now pushed his ERA under 5.00 and Hyatt’s is all the way down to 1.29 as he continues to crank out solid innings.
