Braves Sign More Minor League Pitching

Thursday Alan reported on a trade for yet more minor league pitching getting Andrew Robinson from the Astros for cash. Today that trade became official and Robinson was assigned to the M Braves. To make room for Robinson the M Braves released Derrick Mitchell. Four days days ago I posted a list of minor league Pitching the Braves plucked from the independent league in recent weeks. It seems that I omitted a couple of signings from my report so I’ll attempt to redress that error now.
On June 16th The Press Enterprise reported that Dylan Stuart had signed with the Braves. An undrafted free agent the 5’ 10” 175lb left, Stuart is a graduate of UC Riverside where he appeared in 75 games throwing 292 innings mostly in relief.

During the summer Stuart pitched he pitched in the West Coast League in 2011-2012 as a starter and the Alaska Summer League in 2013 as a reliever.

Since being assigned to Gwinnett he’s been in three games and posted an ERA of 1.80 with a WHIP of 1.20.

On June 13th the Norwalk Daily Voice reported that Rocco Cundari had signed a contract with the Braves. The 23 year old righty had a good season pitching at Southern Connecticut State University, where he went 5-3 with a 1.56 ERA in 17 games – 11 as a starter – striking our 66 and walking 17 in his 80 2/3 innings. He posted a 6-3 record which tied for the team lead in wins. the 6’1, 185 lb righty was named Northeast-10 Conference Pitcher of the Year and ranked among conference leaders in ERA, innings pitched, games started, complete games, wins and strikeouts.

For the last two summers Cundari’s pitching was done for the Petersburg Generals in the Coastal Plains League. The Generals weren’t a great ball team but his numbers were still pretty good.

After signing with the Braves he was assigned to their rookie league team in the Gulf Coast League where he’s made just 2 appearances for 3 1/3 total innings.
