Bleacher Report

Adam Wells, featured columnist for the Bleacher Report, shares with us a bit of background on the Braves’ round 1 pick last night, Braxton Davidson.  Take a look at Adam’s thoughts.  Of course don’t forget to read our own as well!

Braxton Davidson: Prospect Profile for Atlanta Braves’ No. 32 Overall Pick

"BackgroundEven though other prep bats in the 2014 class have higher ceilings, Braxton Davidson has the best combination of performance, refinement and upside to suggest he could be the top hitter in a group that includes Jacob Gatewood and Alex Jackson."

ATL All Day

Because we know you won’t be able to get enough of reading about the Braves’ round 1 draft pick last night, Braxton Davidson, we thought we’d pass along Fletcher Keel’s (ATL All Day – Sister site on the FanSided Network) thoughts about Braxton as well.

Braves select outfielder Davidson with 32nd pick

"The Atlanta Braves selected outfielder Braxton Davidson out of T.C. Roberson High School in North Carolina with the 32nd pick in the 2014 MLB Draft. Davidson plays outfield, as well as first base, but was selected officially as an outfielder with a guy by the name of Freddie Freeman locked up for the foreseeable future."

Braves draft RHP Garrett Fulenchek in the second round

"Late Thursday evening, Atlanta drafted right-handed pitcher Garrett Fulenchek with the 66th pick in the draft. Fulenchek is a big guy on the mound, standing 6’3″ and weighing 205 pounds. His best pitch is his sinker, which sits in the low 90s. He’s got a decent slider already, and some think it could be a plus pitch in the future. Here’s what had to say about Atlanta’s new arm:"

To see how Braxton Davidson compares in your mind to 1st round draft picks of the past by the Atlanta Braves, I thought I’d share the list from ESPN – a listing of 1st round draft picks going all the way to just a year after I was born, 1965.  I remember the majority of these frankly (showing my age).  Some were great, some were awful.  How do you think Braxton Davidson compares?  I’ve shared the picks going back to 2000 below.  Share your thoughts with us below in our comments section.
