David Miller of Rants Sports opines that the Atlanta Braves getting swept in the short series to the Seattle Mariners is a bad sign. I would say it could also simply be another in a series of recent ups-and-downs offensively we’ve all seen the Braves suffer. I wouldn’t read that much into it, but take a look at David’s thoughts.
Atlanta Braves Getting Pasted in Inter-league Play is a Bad Sign
"The Atlanta Braves are on a great roll as they continue to steamroll through the National League. If that sounds like an untrue statement, it is because you are thinking about their overall play instead of how they have played against N.L. teams. Times are good for the Braves as long as they are playing a team from the senior circuit. When they have flipped over and played games against the American League however, things have looked just plain bad."
Hisashi Iwakuma pitched well, and while I wouldn’t take anything at all away from his performance, Mike Minor pitched a good game as well, and simply got no run support. If you’re tempted to give too much credit to Iwakuma, go back and look at all the memorable moments of impatience and lazy discipline at the plate for the Braves, and perhaps you’ll see at least part of the reason for the shutout.
