Atlanta Braves: The Morning Chop

Tomahawk Take Editor Notes: The Braves seemed to get complaisant again after scoring early runs on Tuesday night. Atlanta put four runs on the board in the first inning but quickly lost that lead and eventually lost the game 7-5. Gavin Floyd didn’t have his best stuff as he only lasted five innings and gave up five runs on 10 hits.

Buck fuels M’s past Braves for fourth straight win
Tomahawk Take Editor Notes: John Buck, the Atlanta Braves killer, was at it again on Tuesday night after smashing a two run homer off Alex Wood to evaporate the tied ball game. Buck has now hit seven home runs against the Braves in the last four seasons.

No other player has more homers against Atlanta in that span.Asked about his power surge against the Braves, the 33-year-old catcher shrugged and said he has hit “a couple here and there.”“You play them enough, you’re bound to get a few,” Buck said."
Christian Bethancourt Still Not Ready To Play For Atlanta Braves
Tomahawk Take Editor Notes: Bethancourt will get to the big leagues and his time wearing a Braves uniform will come, we just have to give it time. Yes, he’s been with the organization for seven years but he is still very young. Not all players can come up and make an impact in their young 20’s. Christian hopefully will find his bat in the later months of the season and start of strong next year and we’ll possibly see him in Atlanta in 2016.
"At the end of the 2013 minor league season, the organization believed that the next Molina may be turning his bat around. 42 games into the 2014 season, he’s hitting only .247 with an OPS of .631. While those numbers are definitely better than some of the Braves players who are getting paid a lot of money (I’m looking at you, B.J. Upton), and his average is comparable to Evan Gattis‘ career average of .245, his OPS is more than .100 points lower.Even more troubling is his lack of power. Over the past 10 years, the Braves have had catchers like Brian McCann and Gattis, who are pretty much a 20-25 home run per season guarantee."
Cobb County moving quickly, clearing land for Braves stadium
Tomahawk Take Editor Notes: The new stadium is developing! It seems like construction work is being done everywhere you go these days but this time it’s for the Atlanta Braves new home. The 2017 projected completion date will quickly get here and soon we will have to tell our kids about this Turner Field we used to go watch ball games in.
"The clear-cutting has been fast and furious on the land that will soon hold the new Atlanta Braves stadium in Cobb County.For as long as anyone can remember, the wooded plot near I-75 and I-285 in Cobb County was a place to escape for the hundreds of office workers nearby, but by Tuesday afternoon the landscape has changed dramatically. Pictures now show a clear cut area with piles of wood and trees.Those who live and work near the site were stunned at the speed of the work once the county approved the contracts with the Braves last week."
