Editorial Note: Check out the boxscores from both batting and pitching for the Atlanta Braves, from last’s night 1-0 Braves’ win and pitching duel between Julio Teheran and Cliff Lee, courtesy of Baseball Reference!  Note too, we don’t usually put in the boxscore for both teams, but I included the pitching numbers for both Julio and Cliff, because of how rare it is anymore to see two pitchers in the same game go a full nine!  Amazing!

Braves, Mets hot in NL East
Editorial Note: The Mets have won 3 in a row, and are 6-4 in their last 10, while the Braves have been even hotter, winning 5 in a row with a 7-3 in their last 10, and are again back atop the NL East Division. Â Check out what Call To The Pen has to say on these hot teams!
"With multiple interdivision match ups in the NL East this week, teams are beating up on each other and getting an early taste of what’s in store for the rest of the season. The Braves and Mets are hot, while the Marlins haven’t figured things out recently. Here’s a midweek breakdown of how those teams, as well as the Nationals and Phillies are faring."
Gattis continues supremacy over Phillies
Editorial Note: Gattis has struggled this season, but continues to show signs that he’s coming around to be the kind of hitter the Braves and fans know he can be.  He’s always done well against the Phillies, and that trend continues!  Check out Paul Hagen’s view…
"PHILADELPHIA — Evan Gattis led off the top of the fourth inning with a homer Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. It turned out to be the only run in the Braves’ 1-0 win over the Phillies. He ended the evening with a career-high four hits. But it’s more than that.In the series opener on Monday, the Atlanta catcher had the second multiple-homer game of his career. It’s more than that, too."
Braves give a clinic in pitching and defense
Editorial Note:  I couldn’t have developed a better post title if I’d written the article myself!  Check out Bob Brookover’s (Inquirer Columnist) and see if he gets it like Atlanta Braves’ fans do…
"The night before, Ryne Sandberg said the game begins with pitching and defense. Baseball, of course, is one of only two games – cricket is the other – in which the action is initiated by the defensive team, starting with the pitcher, but that’s not what the Phillies manager was referencing."
Atlanta Braves’ Julio Teheran Proves Standing as Legitimate Ace
Editorial Note: I opined weeks ago that I felt 2014 could be a break-out year for the young Julio Teheran, and while I don’t know that I’d give him the ace title quite yet, he’s certainly on track for that kind of title at some point.  He still has to get in line behind Ervin Santana for the best pitcher on staff, but Julio gets better with every outing!  Check out Steven Whitaker’s take on Julio…
"There’s no way that anyone thought that after one full season in the major leagues, Julio Teheran would be the ace of the Atlanta Braves‘ pitching staff. Yet, like a star in the clear Georgia sky, he has shone quite brightly in his first starts of the 2014 season. The most impressive of those starts coming on a frigid night against Cliff Lee and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was perfect through his first four innings before giving up a base hit to Ryan Howard in the fifth inning and didn’t allow another base runner until Carlos Ruiz got himself a base knock."
