Jason Heyward – to my own personal shock and awe – has been activated from the disabled list and will be in today’s starting lineup for the Braves as they take on the Cubs at Wrigley Field this afternoon.
OF Jason Heyward has been activated today from the disabled list (fractured jaw). He will start in CF and bat leadoff.

Yes, I’m the one that thought he’d have no shot any anything short of the first playoff round… and maybe even later… due to the apparent need to stabilize his jaw injury with surgically-implanted plates. I will happily declare myself to be wrong on that one.
Second news item of note related to this is also contained in that tweet from the team: Jason will be playing center field. Read into that anything you want, but certainly it means B.J. Upton remains in the doghouse.
Welcome back, Jason… now let’s get started on Clinch Weekend.
