Morning Chop: Waffle Ball Version

Waffle Ball?? LOL

Via YouTube

Someone known to me only as meganiager on YouTube posted the video below.  I did a little research, found a Megan Niager on Twitter, looked at her timeline to try and confirm she was the one behind the “I make a funny”, considered her genius, and then followed her.  I haven’t spoken with Megan, but her timeline confirms she is the genius behind this hilarious video.  I had not heard or seen it before myself, but happened upon it with a search.  As you know, since the Waffle House restaurant went into the TED, the Braves have not lost, and that fact also has not been lost on a myriad of fans.  Anyway, without further ado, at Tomahawk Take we hope to make Megan a touch more famous….. Waffle Ball!!

Beachy just peachy, Braves win 14th straight

Yahoo via Chat Sports

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves were able to keep their winning streak alive almost in spite of Brandon Beachy in his first two starts. But the right-hander played a big part in their 14th straight victory on Friday night.   Beachy, 14 months after undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery, allowed three hits in eight innings and the Braves defeated the Miami Marlins 5-0 at Turner Field before a crowd of 37,424.   The win left the Braves, who are 39-15 at home, one shy of the Atlanta record of 15 straight victories set in 2000. The Marlins have lost six in a row.

Open Thread, 8/9, Braves vs. the Ray Stevenses

Rowland’s Office [Editorial Note: Your rips on Georgia are NOT funny, not to mention rips on Ray! lol]

It’s all about Beachy and the streak tonight. (Don’t look, Ethel! And, no, Ray Stevens is not from Miami, so I’m breaking with Office tradition with this headline. Forgive me, won’t you? In fact, this singing dumb ass is from some place called Clarkdale, Ga. Turns out it’s an old mill village in Cobb County. Maybe a fan from there will catch a foul ball tonight, eh Skip? RIP, old friend. Maybe Chip should resurrect that tradition. On second thought, that’s probably a bad idea.)

I confess. I thought that song, The Streak, was really funny, but then I was about 10 or 11 years old when it was popular.

Hudson hopes to return with Braves next year

Associated Press, via MyFox Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) – Tim Hudson says he plans to return next season from right ankle surgery and hopes he’s still pitching for the Atlanta Braves.

Hudson, 38, sat in the clubhouse Friday waiting to have his cast and staples removed and replaced with a walking boot. He underwent season-ending surgery two weeks ago and begins treatment soon.

Hudson says the Braves, his team since 2005, want to see that he’s fully recovered before discussing another contract. The right-hander agrees, adding “it’s just kind of the common sense thing to do.”

After going 8-7 with a 3.97 ERA this season, Hudson has a 205-111 career record in 14 seasons. His .649 winning percentage ranks 10th-best among pitchers with at least 300 career decisions.

Hudson’s 4-year, $36 million contract expires at the end of the season.
