Hello again from sunny Michigan, where the mercury almost hit 30 today!
I was browsing the web tonight, trying to come up with something interesting to write about when I ran across this David O’Brien literary gem about Nate McLouth and how important this season was to his career. I’m not positive about readers of other sites, but I’m pretty sure that TomahawkTake readers are smart enough that they don’t need me to tell them that bit of insightful reporting!
There was one quote in the post that caught my attention, and became the inspiration for the snark that comprises the rest of my post. When asked if finances played any role in bringing McLouth back for 2011 (like the $7.75 million he’d be owed if the Braves cut him loose), here’s how Wren is quoted: “No. The money never was in the equation,” Wren said this week. “The talent is what makes those decisions and drives those decisions. And Nate has talent.”
My initial reaction involved my anatomy, something along the lines of “My [donkey] the money wasn’t important!”. Then I thought, “He’s talking out his [donkey]!”. Finally, I thought, “Man, he must be a dumb [donkey] to think anyone’s buying that load of [stuff that comes out a [donkey]]”.
As you can tell by now, this quote has left me “anatomy fixated” at this point, and not in a pleasant place! So it got me curious if any of you might have better anatomy lessons that could come out of this. You know, something like “What do Chipper’s bat and Wren’s nose have in common? Why, after this line they’re both 34 inches long”.
C’mon, put on your thinking caps and let’s have some fun! Just keep it clean for the youngsters out there!
