As was widely thought, and predicted here, the Braves have now settled with all four of their arbitration eligible players, precluding the need for any of them to actually go before an arbitrator.
But here’s the fun part: let’s see how well I did in guessing what the salaries would be for Moylan, O’Flaherty, Prado, and Jurrjens.
First up, Peter Moylan. My guess was $1.5 million. Actual salary is $2.0 million. I’d like to say that was pretty good, but missing by being 25% low is a pretty big miss. Darn!
O’Flaherty: My guess: $750,000. Actual salary: $895,000. Once again I’m too low, but since $145,000 sounds close, I’m putting this one in the win column!
On to Prado. This one is my shining moment! My guess: $3 million. Actual is $3.1 million. While I continue to be low, being within a hundred grand sounds great to me!
And the finale is Mr. Jurrjens. How did it come out? My guess was low, again (big surprise), coming in at $3.0 million versus the actual of $3.2 million. However, since I’m making the rules here, I’m giving me a win on this one, since I did say “$3 million range” and I think it’s absolutely within range!
It’s so much easier to pass these things when you grade your own paper!
