Jason Heyward Decides Against Playing in the All Star Game
By Editorial Staff

After taking batting practice with the Gwinnett Braves Heyward reported no problems or pain in his thumb which put him on the disabled list for the first time in his career. Still Heyward decided that it would be a good idea to get the extra rest rather than playing in the All Star Game. He will travel to Anaheim tomorrow and is expected to take batting practice along with the other All Star players.
Heyward could return to the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Braves however may elect to send him on a rehab trip to the minors for a couple of games. With either option, he is expected to be back in the Braves’ lineup by next weekend.
