Is Ozzie Albies a Breakout Candidate?

It may seem crazy to call Ozzie a “breakout candidate” as he is already considered one of the better Second Basemen in the league. Yet, he is still considered as a tier behind Ronald Acuña, Freddie Freeman, and other great players.

It may be time he joins that top-tier group of players.

If Ozzie is healthy, he has the talent to become one of the best players in all of baseball. Something most Braves fans, and fantasy baseball players, would love to see.

Ozzie will probably peak at around 30ish HRs. However, with the elite speed he possesses, it is quite possible he could be one of the league leaders in doubles. He also has a shot to consistently be a 20-25 steals guy.

If he learns to take walks at a higher rate and improve his OBP, this could lead to Ozzie also consistently scoring 100 plus runs every season.

It is well within the realm of possibilities that Ozzie could end up a .285-.290 hitter with 25-30 HRs,100 Rs, 85-95 RBIs, and 20 SBs. With his stellar defense at 2nd, this could propel Ozzie to a 4.5-5 WAR type player. Possibly higher.

For the fantasy baseball players, Ozzie could become a solid five categories stud. Ozzie may end up being a minor steal in most dynasty league startups where he is currently valued as third-round talent (Fantrax dynasty rankings).

Time for Ozuna. dark. Next

For Braves fans, the future could be bright for Ozzie Albies. Fortunately for us, Ozzie will be playing second base for the Atlanta Braves for quite some time.
