Atlanta Braves witness another starting implosion: Sean Newcomb Optioned
By James Kunkle
It’s always nice to focus on the positives and even in the lopsided affair, their was one big obvious here tonight.
Travis d’Arnaud has been everything and more so far that the Atlanta Braves could hope for.
He took Phillies ace Aaron Nola deep in the second inning and later added another RBI and run scored.
So far on the 2020 season, Travis d’Arnaud is hitting an even .400.
After starting the year with a possible case of COVID, d’Arnaud has come out red hot and shown why he was so deserving of the two year deal he signed with the Atlanta Braves last off-season.
I do not think it takes a rocket scientist to see how I really feel about Tyler Flowers (If curious, go back and read my old articles) and with d’Arnaud’s recent play, I for one am hoping that his success leads to a split for the Atlanta Braves catching duo is more like a 75-25% split than closer to the 50-50% split that Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker has preferred to employ since he has become manager.
I was worried when the Atlanta Braves signed d’Arnaud that he was a flash in the pan and he would be more like his early career days, but so far that could not be farther from the truth as he is playing the best ball of his career. Hopefully this lasts for the rest of this season and next at least.
