Another starting pitcher

If we go into Spring Training with the starting pitching options we currently have it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

But I still question whether or not AA will allow that to happen.

While I don’t think he will go out and make a blockbuster trade for a frontline starting pitcher — mainly because I don’t see any out there worth going after — I do believe he’ll either bring in a veteran or bounce-back candidate to compete for a rotation spot.

Alex Wood has been mentioned a lot by fans and makes a lot of sense.

Taijuan Walker is another potential young, bounce-back candidate for Atlanta to consider.

I really thought Rich Hill would have been a good veteran option for the Braves to bring on board before he signed with the Minnesota Twins.

Ivan Nova, Drew Smyly, Tyson Ross, and Clay Buchholz represent some veterans who could come in and compete for the fifth spot in the rotation and possibly provide some depth.

After the top four in the rotation, Sean Newcomb, Kyle Wright, and Bryse Wilson are probably the top candidates going into Spring Training to win the fifth spot.

It wouldn’t hurt to add a little more competition to that group, and I think that will happen in the next month.
