2. We need this Foltynewicz to stay

Mike Foltynewicz not only turned in his best outing since being recalled from Triple-A, but it was easily his best start of the year. All the pitches were working and he had the Phillies grounding out batter after batter.

Retiring the first 13 to start the game before Corey Dickerson hit a, shall we say Citizens Bank Park, home run in the 5th. He pitched 7 innings of 3 hit ball, but one of the other two hits besides the home run was a cheap hit as well.

This is the Mike Foltynewicz we all saw and fell in love with during the 2018 season when he was the teams best pitcher. If this is who we get for the rest of the year, we just became that more dominant.

If Mike makes a couple more starts like last night’s, I don’t know how you keep him off the playoff rotation. However, all 5 starters right now are able to be trusted with the ball. Truth be told, it might be Mike Soroka at this point who has been struggling the most?

So the Braves obviously will have big decisions to make in regard as to who pitches in the playoff games, but let’s hope Mike Foltynewicz keeps pitching like this and makes that decision that much tougher.
