20. Cincinnati Reds

Those throwbacks they wore Sunday were something. The only thing missing was Rick Vaughn coming out of the bullpen wearing those skull glasses while Wild Thing was blaring over the speakers.

19. San Diego Padres

San Diego closed out the first half winning three straight over the Dodgers to get back to the exact .500 mark. Fernando Tatis Jr was the hero as he played outstanding defense and added some long balls to the mix.

18. Pittsburgh Pirates

Good luck to Francisco Cervelli on whichever path his career takes him now. He announced this past weekend he was done with catching and I don’t blame him one bit.

17. St. Louis Cardinals

Who wants to win the NL Central? It’s like a match of who can be the most mediocre team to back into the postseason. The Cardinals are in third in that division only two games back at the moment.

16. Los Angeles Angels

Rest in peace Tyler Skaggs

15. Arizona Diamondbacks

Who had Arizona in second at the All-Star break? I didn’t, but that is exactly where they stand at the moment. Starting to see rumors of David Peralta being available, but the team’s play may not allow a sellers mentality into the front office’s mind?

14. Texas Rangers

Let’s give a call to Lance Lynn who has risen back from some bad seasons to bounce back and have a nice rebound season — in Arlington of all places. He’s one of the many reasons the Rangers are succeeding so far this year.

13. Milwaukee Brewers

As we mentioned earlier, the NL Central is up for anyone’s grab. Milwaukee has gone cold lately and surprisingly it has been the offense that has let them down. Both Josh Hader and Christian Yelich are dinged up as well.

12. Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillie’s downfall is very similar to last year, it is just happening about a month earlier this year. I expect them to be super active at the trade deadline and spend “stupid money,” especially after the news of Jake Arrieta potentially being done for the year now.

11. Chicago Cubs

So far the Craig Kimbrel signing has brought limited success to the Cubbies. The weird offseason for Kimbrel has seemed to be a hindrance that many assumed it would to the former lockdown closer.
