3 Takeaways as Atlanta Braves offense remains on fire
By James Kunkle
1. Welcome back to earth Mike Soroka
Let me lead off first by saying Mike Soroka is still pitching great and this is not a knock on him at all. With that said, the last few starts Soroka has not been as sharp as he was his first handful.

He went 6 innings last night and may have gone 7 if it weren’t for the tarp fiasco. He allowed 3 more earned runs, which raised his ERA to 2.12 — still superb, no doubt.
Robinson Cano tagged him for a home run on a pitch that Soroka laid right down the middle of the plate. Again though, we could not realistically expect Soroka to have kept up the pace he was on for his first 8 or 10 starts this season. We all should have expected a few bumps along the road.
It will be interesting to see how the Atlanta Braves handle the pitching staff going forward with the debut of Dallas Keuchel expected Friday night.
Will they bump someone out of the rotation or go with a 6-man rotation to save some innings for Max Fried and Mike Soroka?
So that’s our three takeaways from Mondays pounding over the Mets. Hopefully the offense continues it’s red hot ways Tuesday evening, but it will be a tall task with Jacob DeGrom starting on the hill for the Mets.
