2. Kevin Gausman can’t start another game right now

The run Kevin Gausman allowed in the first inning was not of his doing, but the three he allowed right after getting a big lead were all of his doing.

On a surefire double play, he threw a bad throw to the second base bag allowing both runners to be safe. Naturally, that was followed up by a 3-run shot by Starling Marte.

He was promptly taken out of the game and yet endured another terrible start in what is becoming a bad trend for him here lately.

I’m wondered going into the game Monday night if Gausman would find motivation by the recent signing of Dallas Keuchel. It appeared not, and it also appeared Gausman is lost right now.

His fastball is flat and he is throwing it right over the heart of the plate entirely too much right now.

He is a 2-pitch pitcher at the moment, and Major League hitters are sitting on the before mentioned fastball and are not missing it.

It remains to be seen what the Atlanta Braves will do about Gausman’s next start, but I see no way he makes it, especially considering it is scheduled to be this weekend in a huge series against the Phillies. Perhaps Touki Toussaint will make that start instead?

I don’t know if the Braves will put Gausman in the pen or send him down for a bit, but again, I see no way he can start another game for the Atlanta Braves right now.
