2. We have an Ace

Myself, with a lot of other Atlanta Braves fans, have been clamoring for an ace for the last few seasons. I thought it was where the team lacked and where the team just didn’t match up with the other big-time National League teams the past few years.

Well, I think the Braves have finally found their ace.

It’s a big label to go ahead and put on Mike Soroka, but this kid hasn’t been fazed once so far, so why not?

Monday, Soroka pitched 8 innings of 1 run, 2 hit ball, and the funny thing is, not a lot of people are even surprised anymore.

Mike was dealing with what looked like ease Monday as he was perfect through his first 5 innings before Brandon Crawford led off the 6th with a home run. That home run was the first Soroka allowed all year and only the second of his young career.

Soroka pounds the strike zone and gets soft grounder after soft grounder when he is pitching. It’s a beautiful thing, and even this early in his career you just feel like the Atlanta Braves have the upper hand if they can just score 2 or 3 runs.

I think I speak for most of Braves country when I say I am running out of superlatives that speak of how well this kid is pitching and throwing the ball. I see many awards in the kid’s future.
