Atlanta Braves

Atlanta Braves fans obviously aren’t happy with where we are right now, but to be honest, we’re not in bad shape. It could certainly be a lot worse.

This team has been very inconsistent this season, as you might expect with a young lineup and pitching staff.

The hope is they finally get into a rhythm and pick things up in the second half.

Strengths: We all know the strength of this team is the offense. The Atlanta Braves rank sixth in the league with a .335 OBP, tied for second with a .261 average, and seventh with an OPS of .773.

They also don’t strike out a ton, and they are 11th in the league in drawing walks.

The pitching staff is middle of the pack in most categories. They’re 12th in the league in K/9 with a rate of 8.98.

Weaknesses: And on the flip side, we all know the biggest weakness of this team has been the bullpen.

They’re 20th in the league in ERA (4.34) and 19th in BAA (.245). But the biggest issue has been the walks where they’re second in the league with 83. And the team ahead of them — the Mariners — have played three more games.

Starters haven’t been much better as they’ve issues the fourth most walks in all of baseball. And they’re 18th in the baseball with an ERA of 4.40.

The starters also have put a lot of pressure on the bullpen by throwing the 13th fewest innings this year, which is to be expected with a young staff.

And while the offense has done a great job of getting on base, they’ve done a terrible job of bringing runners home.

They’ve scored the 11th fewest runs with RISP, and they’re 22nd in the league hitting with RISP at .240.
