Parking Spaces

Here are at the current park factor ‘standings’ among these 8 trade contenders.. and a couple of others… starting with the below-average homer parks.

(For a more complete picture, the 2018 ranking is given in [brackets])

  • 30th:  Oracle Park, San Fran (0.483)  [29th]
  • 29th:  Wrigley Field, Chicago (0.571)  Maybe that gets better now that Kris Bryant is hitting?? [13th]
  • 28th:  Target Field, Minneapolis (0.643)  [20th]
  • 27th:  Fenway Park, Boston (0.657)  [17th]
  • 22nd: Busch Stadium, St. Louis (0.797)  [25th]
  • 21st:  Yankee Stadium (0.816… only because 2/3rd of their lineup is hurt)  [6th]

Above average:

  • 15th:  Citi Field, NYC (1.100)  [22nd]
  • 14th: Dodgers Stadium (1.111)  [11th]
  • 13th:  Tropicana Field, St. Pete (1.133)  [23rd]
  • 11th:  Minute Maid, Houston (1.147)  [12th]
  • 10th:  SunTrust Park, Atlanta (1.188)  [27th]
  • 9th:  Citizens Bank Park, Philly (1.215)  [4th]
  • 5th:  Miller Park, Milwaukee (1.417)  [10th]
  • 1st:  Angel Stadium, Anaheim (1.903)  [7th]

This wouldn’t be the only factor involved in a no-trade-clause veto decision, of course, but based on this chart, the Braves, Houston, and the Cardinals would seem to have a fighting chance, should any of them want to jump into the fray.

By the same token, Philadelphia, the Yankees, and Brewers likely need not apply (though they will).

Braves Needs

The Atlanta Braves will clearly have some decisions to make.  Right now, the chief concern involves a long-term solution to the bullpen… and thus far, they continue to decline to do anything more in that direction.

The starting rotation has been speculated as an upgrade area, and so far, the best results are coming from the “kids”… and specifically those who are probably looking at an innings limit as we drill into the Summer months.

Being on that 8-team No-trade list does complicate matters… but if the Braves are determined, it should not present an insurmountable hurdle.

Madison Bumgarner will be available in July… he will also require a fairly steep price.  If there is interest, the Atlanta Braves should probably try for the ‘package deal’ involving one of the Giants’ top relief pitchers as well.

Next. Shuffling the Deck. dark

That will make the task more difficult since they already will need to pacify the centerpiece guy in order to get past that contract clause, but it’s one that they should embrace.
