Game 1 – Kevin Gausman vs Jose Urena

The very obvious intrigue for Friday night is the matchup with the Atlanta Braves vs. Jose Urena.

If you aren’t familiar with what happened last year, catch up here.

The first time Ronald Acuna Jr. steps to the plate against Urena will be interesting, but even more than that, will be when Urena steps to the plate.

It’s very interesting that the Atlanta Braves scratched Touki Toussaint from his start on Thursday and called him up for this series but didn’t name him as a probable starter.

I’m not saying anything is going to happen or should happen, but you have to think the Braves are preparing for something to happen.

Make sure you don’t miss the start of this game.

As for the game itself, I’m kind of hoping nothing happens because Acuna needs to get going and he has a chance to do that against the Marlins.

He’s hitting .342 in his young career against the Marlins, but is just 1-for-7 against Urena.

Freddie Freeman (8-for-20), Ender Inciarte (7-for-20), and Nick Markakis (7-for-22) own Urena from the left side of the plate.

Gausman needs a good start so I’m hoping he stays in this game. He’s given up 5 earned runs in each of his past two starts. Starlin Castro (11-for-38) and Curtis Granderson (3-for-9) have pretty good numbers against him.
