Game 3 – Julio Teheran vs Anthony DeSclafani

ESPN currently has Julio Teheran scheduled to pitch this game, but Mark Bowman hinted to the fact that Sean Newcomb could be recalled to start game three of this series.

We’ll look at both real quick.

Julio has been lit up by Cincinnati as of late with an ERA of 7.00 in his last three starts against them. Maybe it’s best if he gets skipped here.

More from Tomahawk Take

Yasiel Puig owns Julio as he’s 7-for-12 against him with a homerun. Dietrich is 8-for-28 with 2 home runs.

Pretty much everyone for the Reds has good numbers against Julio.

Newcomb has made three starts against Cincinnati in his career and is 1-0 with a 3.71 ERA in 17 innings with 15 strikeouts.

Anthony DeScalfani has been around for a bit, but is off to a slow start this season. However, he was great in his last start holding the Padres to 1 run on 2 hits and a walk over 6 innings with 6 strikeouts.

He’s made two starts against the Atlanta Braves over the past three years and is 1-0 with a 2.53 ERA in 10.2 innings with 5 strikeouts.

Freddie Freeman (3-for-10 and 1 home run), Ender Inciarte (4-for-10 with 1 home run), and Nick Markakis (4-for-12) have the most experience against him and are the only Braves hitters with hits against him.
