Game 2 – Mike  Soroka vs Tanner  Roark

Tanner Roark is someone the Atlanta Braves are very familiar with, and it seems like he always has his best stuff when he faces Atlanta.

However, he has a 4.02 ERA over the past three years against the Braves in 62.2 innings with 43 strikeouts. He’s 5-4 against the Braves in 11 games (9 starts) over the last three seasons.

Freddie Freeman has 14 hits in 45 at-bats against the righty Roark, but he’s never homered off of him.

Ender Inciarte his 12-for-30 against him with a home run, while Nick Markakis is 9-for-33 with 3 home runs off Roark.

Johan Camargo (4-for-10) and Ozzie Albies (5-15) have had success against him as well.

Mike Soroka was great in his first big league outing of 2019 allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks over 5 innings with 6 strikeouts.

The 21-year-old did not face Cincinnati last year, and Derek Dietrich is the only member of the Reds who has faced him (1-for-3 with a double, 3 RBI, and 2 strikeouts).

Some feel Soroka needs to have a good start to remain in the Atlanta Braves starting rotation. I don’t understand that line of thinking as he’s clearly one of the best five starters when healthy.
