Game 2: Zack Godley vs. Kevin Gausman

WEDNESDAY, 7:20PM

Zack Godley has struggled so far this season, carrying an ERA of 7.41 and a WHIP of 1.417.

In his first start of the season, he allowed seven earned runs in 5.1 innings against the Dodgers.

He bounced back with a solid start against Boston, going 5.2 innings, while allowing only one run.

But his last start at San Diego was a struggle, as he allowed six earned runs in six innings.

The key for Godley is keeping the ball in the park, as he gave up two home runs in each of his rough outings.

Which leads into good news for the Braves, as several of members of the lineup have had plenty of success off Godley.

  • Inciarte is 4-for-10
  • Freeman is 3-for-7 (including a home run)
  • Nick Markakis is 4-for-9
  • Josh Donaldson is 2-for-3.

Kevin Gausman was outstanding in his first start, allowing no runs in seven innings, and followed that up with a so-so performance against the Mets, going 5.2 innings and surrendering four earned runs.

Since he has spent most of his career in the American League, Gausman has faced only Eduardo Escobar, who played nearly seven seasons with the White Sox and Twins.

Escobar is 4-for-15 against Gausman.

Again, this seems like a Braves win with plenty of offensive potential.
